Today marks yet another important milestone in the history of WordPress. The first WordPress official update of the year 2015 WordPress 4.2 “Powell” is finally out after a long progress of testing and improving. This version is named after Bud Powell, one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. It seems to us that Bud’s bebop tunes are somehow reflected in the new WordPress version: fresh and harmonized! Here are some new important changes in WordPress 4.2, illustrated with infographic.
“Press This” button
This button is in fact not a stranger with WordPress user; however, it didn’t function as efficiently as it had been expected to. In this new version, this feature is greatly improved. To enable this feature, go to ‘Tools’ tab. In the ‘Available Tools’ section, you will find the button. Simply drag it to the bookmark bar in your browser and it’s ready to use. When you find a content that you want to share, click that button to seize it, edit it and post it to your page.
Here is how the “Press This” button works:
Extended character support
WordPress now supports native Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters. If that’s not enough for you, WordPress’s new utf8mb4 encoding even allows you to decorate your content with Emoji, musical and mathematical symbols, and hieroglyphs! Emoji and native characters wouldn’t be a game changer for WordPress but it would definitely add a little fresh spice to the world’s largest CMS.

Streamlined Plugins Update
The boring loading screen now belongs to the past. In WordPress 4.2, plugin update and install will be simplified. From the plugin lists, you’re just one click away from a new version of the plugin! The change is simple, but it makes the blogging experience so much more convenient.
